Spring Cleaning Your Mattress

Spring is just around the corner, closer than you think. The practice of spring cleaning is scientifically proven to improve mental health, but how do you even clean the thing you lay down on every night? In this article, we will provide some advice to clean your mattress for this upcoming spring season.

Before we get into the important steps of cleaning your mattress, always remember that these methods vary based on the type of mattress you have and its age. If your mattress is older than 10 years, we recommend replacing it, not only to improve comfort but cleanliness as well.

Vacuum your mattress after removing your sheets. Be sure to vacuum the sides as well. Then spot-clean as much as you can, using cold water and a cloth. Be hesitant to use laundry detergent, not only because it can be irritating to your skin, but it can stay stuck in the mattress based on how water-based it is. After the mattress is completely dry from the spot cleaning, cover the mattress in a thin layer of baking soda. This absorbs odor and ensures any nasty layers of smell will be brought to the surface.
