Sleep Positions for Support

Waking up sore when you’re supposed to feel well rested can be a dampener on the rest of your day, especially if you don’t know why. If you’re feeling sore, your sleeping and pillow positions are likely not optimal for your back and neck. In this article, we’ll cover the most optimal positions for your body's support!

The best position is to lay completely on your back. This allows an even distribution of weight across the spine and neck. Your pillow should sit underneath the head and neck and shouldn’t reach the shoulder area as it will cause the weight of your head and neck to become unevenly distributed with your body. If you find this position not that relaxing, laying on your side with your legs stretched out also isn’t a bad option. If you snore a lot, this also helps alleviate that!

On the flip side, the worst position for your body’s support is to sleep on your stomach. Doing so holds the head and back misaligned as well as creating excessive pressure on your joints. Since you can’t sleep with your face on the pillow, this also causes your head to be misaligned as you are forced to breathe to the side.
