Woohoo, 2020 is officially over! The new year is a great time to motivate yourself to work for positive changes in your life, and while everyone’s new years resolution may look a little different, one thing everyone needs is more sleep! In this article we will go over how important sleep is to your general well being and why you should put, “get more sleep” on the top of your new year’s resolutions list.
Weight loss- if weight loss is one of your resolutions, you can kill 2 birds with 1 stone by getting more sleep. In a PubMed study, children and adults who get less than 8 hours of sleep are 89% and 55% more likely to develop obesity. Sleep deprived individuals are also likely to have higher appetites causing them to eat more.
Concentration- Sleep is critical to achieve maximum productivity. A study conducted on medical interns with work hours more than 24 hours made 36% more critical mistakes compared to their counterparts that were given more time to snooze.
Higher immune function- Sleep improves your immune system’s function. In another PubMed study, they found that those who slept less than 7 hours are almost 3x more likely to develop a cold compared to those who slept 8 hours or more.
Quality of sleep is also important, and a comfortable mattress is critical to achieve this. At Fox Mattress we build all our mattress locally 100% with USA materials. Come by our store or give us a call today to learn more!
