In the last article we covered all the different materials used for bed sheets and what to think about when choosing one. In it, we glossed over cotton as that holds a whole catalog of different types. In this article, we’ll focus on cotton bed sheets specifically and all its different types.
Upland- the most common type of cotton you’ll find. While fairly durable, they are not as soft as some of the other types on this list.
Pima- an affordable, high quality cotton. These sheets are made with a long staple cotton fiber and with that stays durable, high quality, and incredibly soft.
Egyptian- Egyptian cotton is the most expensive and luxurious cotton on this list. It is made with an extra long staple, the longest cotton fiber available on the market, and because of that is extremely durable, soft, and resists pilling. Again, because of all these premium attributes it can be quite expensive.
Flannel- thinking about a flannel shirt? It’s very similar! Flannel sheets are made by shredding the cotton and shaving the individual yarns to bring the fibers out. This gives a distinct thick, fuzzy, yet soft feel that makes them ideal for the winter time or colder climates in general.
