Are Night Routines Required for Good Sleep?

What you do before you go to sleep can sometimes make or break the quality of sleep you get. There needs to be a signal for our brain to recognize sleeping or relaxing time, which is the main purpose of a night routine. It can also be a great way to reduce anxiety and stress, allowing your body to relax and feel safe.

One of the best ways to start a night routine is to figure out a set bedtime. You may feel like a child again, but leaving 30 minutes to 2 hours of time before this bedtime can allow that relaxation to begin. During this relaxation time, always try to avoid blue light, meaning phones, computers and televisions. They can wake you up even more, and disrupt this routine. Try to replace the time you use to look at blue light with something gratifying like medication, stretching, reading, a bath, or a nighttime tea.
