1. Turn down the thermostat

Your body temperature actually has to drop 2-3 degrees in order to fall asleep meaning the colder your room, the faster your body temperature drops. The recommended room temperature is 65 degrees.
2. Don't look at the time
When you look at the clock late at night wondering and praying for sleep to overcome you, you are actually playing a mind game with yourself. Instead of worrying about it, just let sleep come naturally by being relaxing and focusing on your breathing.
3. Avoid caffeine and nicotine
This might seem obvious but there are some items that we might not attribute to having caffeine. Consumables such as tea and chocolate will need to avoided along with coffee. Nicotine is a stimulant so while it might make you feel more relaxed, it is actually putting your body in higher gear.
