As many of us are returning to our normal working lives, the challenge of waking up early in the morning and being mentally stimulated enough to go back to our normal routine can prove to be an uphill battle. Aside from the usual sleep tips that we normally discuss (for more of those check out our previous blogs!), it's also important to rub the sleep from our eyes when it's time to start the day!
This week we have morning smoothie suggestion that will start you morning off with the right nutrition needed to last throughout that day until you can come back home and be reunited with your bed. For this smoothie you will need:
1 cup orange juice
1/2 cup of frozen fruit
1 cup of spinach
We probably had you until the spinach...but it's there for a good reason! Leafy greens contain lots of iron which a mineral that many of us a deficient in. The vitamin C from the orange juice actually helps the iron become more bioavailable meaning our body is able to absorb more of it. The frozen fruit adds more taste and makes the smoothie cold. You can change out of the fruit to keep it interesting. With just three ingredients, it's an easy smoothie to make that works together to be very nutrient dense. You might think the spinach will make the entire thing taste weird but all the fruit actually makes this smoothie sweet without a hint of bitterness.
