A Perfect Night Routine (Part One)

We have all had nights where we toss and turn, unable to fall asleep. Our body’s are heavily sensitive to routines, and having a nightly routine that primes your body and rest may be just what you need to get more consistent and better rest! The first consideration to take is what to set your bedtime at. Having a consistent time when you go to bed and wake up every day helps regulate your body’s circadian rhythm and will make falling asleep and waking up much easier. Once that is set, make sure leading up to your bed time you gradually wind down. This can include reducing screen exposure and opting for calming activities such as meditation or reading.

To best adjust this for yourself, take into consideration different stressors that can impact your capability to wind down. Whether it is work or a personal project that is causing stress, make sure you are practicing relaxing techniques as these stressors can negatively affect your sleep.
