The History of the Mattress (Part II): The Early Mattress

July 15, 2017

One thing people have done since the dawn of time: sleep.

Whether it was a cave floor with leaves or stretched ropes and leather straps like on an old ship, beds were far from the comfort level we see today.

In the 1600s, as the mattress evolved, it became a 'bag' of soft filling which was most commonly straw or rarely wool that was covered in plain, cheap cloth.

It is a good thing we now make a much higher quality mattress today so the entire world can get a better night’s sleep.

Contact Fox Mattress and we will help you find the perfect fit.
