Tips for Buying a New Mattress set (provided by American Innerspring Manufacturers)
Quick Tip: Think comfort, support, durability, space and foundation. Test drive thoroughly and spend as much as you can afford…for more specifics to educate yourself, see tips below:
1. Give your current sleep set a thorough going over - age (8-10 yrs.), condition, support and appearance possibly might be the beginning of losing support and comfort
2. Get the scoop on what’s available - new materials and technical advancements are occurring constantly in the bedding business - pick up some literature or ask your salesperson, “what’s new?”
3. Choose stores you Trust -
Fox Mattress --Experience and Quality Manufacturing since 1968
4. Test drive as many models as possible
5. Ask questions and look for several key attributes
- Innerspring
- at least nine inches thick
- coil counts - 300-450 based on size
6. Think about size, think modern - bigger the better (standard double size of old fashioned mattress provided only 26” of sleep space - that’s about the same amount of space as a baby crib).
7. Buy a complete set - Mattress and Box Spring - the two are designed to work together.
8. Forget about comparison shopping - it’s hard to find the same model and design from store to store. Find what you like and then test the levels of comfort in that particular model.
9. Spend as much as your budget can afford. Don’t scrimp. Mattress prices are determined by the materials used. Consider the amount of time you’ll be using the sleep set.
10. The warranty is important but not the final word. Don’t look to the warranty to tell you how long the set should last….it should guard against product defect not gradual loss of comfort or support.
